Nollywood actress, Efe Irele has made a case for her senior colleague, Desmond Elliott who is running for third term as a lawmaker for Lagos State House of Assembly, Surulere.
Taking to her Instagram page, Efe revealed reasons why she believes in him and is supporting him.
For her, it isn’t because she has a close relationship with him that she supports him but because of his good deeds as an individual and as a lawmaker.
She stated that she has seen how he encouraged and supported young Lagosians, including her in the creative industry.
Efe Irele added that she has seen him provide free shuttle buses for students in Surulere.
The multiple award winning actress claimed that she knows 15 out of the 1,000 people he provided free health care and insurance for.
“I believe in @desmondelliot not because I know him but because I have seen what he has done as an individual and as a lawmaker. I have seen how he encouraged and supported young Lagosians (including me) in the creative industry.
I have seen him provide free shuttle buses for students in Surulere. I personally know up to 15 out of the 1,000 people he provided free health care and insurance for.
Forget PR and social media management, Desmond Elliot is a good representative and I will be supporting and voting for him on Saturday.
I am with you my big brother and friend”.
Lagos youths set to deal with Desmond Elliot in upcoming state elections
This is coming after Lagos youths in Surulere had vowed to come en masse to vote out Desmond Elliot, during the upcoming state elections.
The youths are upset that since Desmond Elliot was sworn into office on 11 April 2015, he hasn’t produced any positive outcome, especially in Surulere. To make matters worse, he turned his back on the youths during the END Sars protest in 2020, by pushing for a bill to regulate and control speech on social media at the Lagos State house of assembly.
Now ready to deal with him, the youths had thrown their weight behind Labour Party’s candidate and actor, Olumide Oworu who is set to contend with his senior colleague, Desmond Elliott to represent Surulere Constituency at Lagos House of Assembly.
